Dear Parents/Carers
Safeguarding Audit
I am pleased to let you know that we invited auditors into the College this week to complete a comprehensive audit of our safeguarding practices. They agreed with our self-evaluation, and praised the College’s embedded culture and practices related to safeguarding, and the further very significant improvements we have made since their last visit two years ago.Â
Today, it was also lovely to see so many students wearing their ‘Odd Socks’ in support of kindness towards themselves and each other!
Further Staff Development to support learners with additional needs
This week, all teaching and pastoral staff participated in the second of this year’s training sessions on provision for children with speech, language and communication needs, which involved expert input, feedback from student voice, and a reminder of the key strategies that can build confidence and security for children in the classroom, particularly how they are supported to have positive talk partners.Â
Year 11 students are doing well!
Well done to Year 11 for their good humour and brilliant conduct as they took their first week’s set of trial exams. Our invigilator team have been so impressed by them, and the students have already been saying how they are learning from the experience of taking the papers.
Wishing you all a great weekend.
Best wishes
Sara Marshallsay
Principal

On Saturday 15th November 12 students from Uckfield College travelled to St Bede’s Senior School to compete in the regional round of the UK Space Design Challenge. The students were paired with students from Brighton College to create and prepare a proposal for a space ship to move materials around the inner solar system.
After a long day of proposal work and preparing their presentation the students gave an excellent account of themselves, working around difficulties and adapting well to the challenges that came their way. The team did not win the competition so sadly will not be competing at the national finals but congratulations are due to all involved.

As the festive season approaches, we invite you to reserve the evening of Tuesday, December 16th, 2025 for our annual Carol Service.Â
Doors open: 5:45pm | Service starts: 6:00pm Â
We look forward to welcoming you to this festive event!

Uckfield College staff are fundraising for Movember again this month.Â
Last year we raised an incredible £2000.
If you can, please support our efforts at the Uckfield College ‘mo space’.
Changemakers will be organising fund raising events this term in support of the cause and if you would like to find out more about Movember please follow this link.

The Stand Tall Changemakers are raising money for Movember with a bake sale on Monday 24th November. Students will need to remember to bring in cash if they want to buy a cake or fake moustache!

With the cooler weather officially here, we are certainly glad these magnificent insects are only on paper!
This work is excellently executed piece by Year 9 student, Finn, who took deep inspiration from the incredible artist Abby Diamond! The attention to detail and unique style are just phenomenal. It’s so inspiring to see our students channeling their passion and skill into such beautiful creations, even as the season changes. We love seeing the diverse ways you interpret your projects Year 9! Keep up the brilliant work!

A mixture of old and new, a stunning set of photograms produced by Aurora M in Yr13. Utilising the dark room she’s combined photo transparencies with real plants to create something visionary.

We are thrilled to announce a wonderful opportunity for Uckfield College families this festive season: an invitation to a special, subsidised performance of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.
This opportunity is a direct result of Uckfield College’s link to the Royal Ballet and Opera organisation. This performance of The Nutcracker is subsidised and is not open to the general public.
The event is a Paul Hamlyn Christmas Treat performance of The Nutcracker.
This is a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season. Please use this link to book your tickets.
